Why I’m Adding Sculptra® to Essential Dermatology

Posted on: August 15th, 2026 by Our Team

At Essential Dermatology, one of my commitments to every patient is to never stop learning. Dermatology is constantly evolving. New research, new techniques, and new treatment options allow us to achieve better, more natural-looking results than ever before. As a board-certified dermatologist, continuing education isn’t just something I do to maintain my certification, it’s an important part of providing the highest quality care to my patients.

This month, I’m excited to be completing advanced training in Sculptra®, an FDA-approved biostimulatory injectable that works differently from traditional dermal fillers. After completing my training, I’ll be offering Sculptra as another treatment option for patients looking for gradual, natural facial rejuvenation.

What Makes Sculptra Different?

Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers that provide immediate volume, Sculptra works by stimulating your body’s own collagen production.

Collagen is the protein that gives our skin its structure, firmness, and elasticity. Beginning in our twenties, we naturally lose about 1% of our collagen each year. Over time, this contributes to:

  • Hollow temples
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Loss of facial definition
  • Thinning skin
  • A more tired or aged appearance

Sculptra gradually encourages your body to rebuild collagen over several months, creating subtle, natural-looking improvement that can last up to two years or longer for many patients.

The goal isn’t to make you look different but to help restore what time has gradually taken away.

A New Option for GLP-1–Associated Facial Volume Loss

One of the newest concerns many patients have shared is facial volume loss after successful weight loss with GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide or tirzepatide.

Losing weight often improves overall health, but significant weight loss can sometimes lead to a more hollow or gaunt appearance in the face. This isn’t caused by the medication itself as much as the loss of facial fat that accompanies weight loss.

Sculptra can be an excellent option for appropriate candidates because it stimulates collagen production throughout the treated areas rather than simply replacing volume with filler. This can help restore facial support while maintaining a soft, natural appearance that complements your weight-loss journey.

Every patient is different, and during a consultation we’ll discuss whether Sculptra, hyaluronic acid filler, or another treatment is the best choice for your goals.

Why Continuing Education Matters

Medicine doesn’t stand still, and neither should your physician.

Throughout my career, I’ve remained committed to expanding my knowledge through continuing medical education, advanced procedural training, and staying current with the latest scientific evidence.

When I introduce a new treatment at Essential Dermatology, it isn’t because it’s trendy. It’s because I believe it has the potential to benefit my patients and meets the high standards I expect for safety, effectiveness, and natural results.

Adding Sculptra allows me to offer another tool that can be tailored to each individual’s needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to facial rejuvenation.

Is Sculptra Right for You?

Sculptra may be a good option if you are looking for:

  • Gradual, natural-looking facial rejuvenation
  • Improvement in facial volume loss
  • Increased collagen production
  • Longer-lasting results
  • A treatment plan that restores facial structure over time

The best cosmetic treatment is the one that’s customized to you. During a cosmetic consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns, evaluate your facial anatomy, and develop a treatment plan designed specifically for your goals.

I’m excited to bring this new option to Essential Dermatology and look forward to helping even more patients achieve healthy, natural-looking results. If you’re interested in learning whether Sculptra is right for you, schedule a cosmetic consultation, and we’ll create a personalized treatment plan together.
